Mon Diansuy, an alumnus of Notre Dame University (NDU) in Cotabato City, has brought great pride to his alma mater by helping the Far Eastern University (FEU) football team secure its 10th UAAP Men’s Football championship. In an exciting Season 85 Final, FEU defeated Ateneo de Manila University with a score of 4-1 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

For MonMon, as he is affectionately known, reaching this level of success is a dream come true not only for himself but also for his parents. His mother, Mrs. Jane Diansuy, couldn’t help but shed tears of joy as she watched her son confidently guard the enemy’s goal during the finals. She expressed her gratitude for witnessing this incredible achievement, which she never thought possible.

The Diansuy family has been wholeheartedly supporting MonMon since he decided to pursue his studies in Manila at FEU. His father, Engr. Diansuy, a retired survey chief, emphasized that they have always supported MonMon’s passion for football. As a second-year full scholar in FEU’s Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology program, MonMon enjoys free tuition, board, lodging, and monthly allowances.

From his early days at NDU-ETD, where he began playing football in Grade 1, MonMon has shown immense talent and dedication to the sport. Representing NDU in numerous city and regional sports competitions, he honed his skills and attributes his success to the solid foundation provided by his alma mater.

MonMon also expressed gratitude to the Maguindanao Regional Football Association (MRFA), as well as the Middle East and Malaya Football Clubs, for helping him further develop his skills. He proudly stated that “probinsyanos” like himself can compete at the same level as athletes from the national capital region, proving that talent knows no boundaries.

FEU’s victory holds significant meaning for their coach, Vince Santos, who celebrated his first championship as head coach of the team. The win brought immense joy, especially after a few years of missing out on football competitions.

As MonMon continues his journey, his mother reminds him to remain focused on both his studies and his passion for football. She emphasizes the importance of balancing both aspects of his life. Mrs. Diansuy also revealed that FEU’s football coach would visit Cotabato City on June 3 and 4 to conduct a football clinic for boys and girls aged 6 to 18 years old. This opportunity will allow aspiring footballers to receive training from the skilled FEU football instructor and coach/trainer, Warner Gesulga.

MonMon, the gentle giant with a heart of gold, stands tall at 6’2″ and draws inspiration from renowned footballers Lionel Andrés Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. While his fame continues to rise, his mother advises him to stay grounded and dedicated to his education.

As MonMon celebrates his birthday on May 30, NDU and the entire Cotabato City community beam with pride, celebrating the accomplishments of their talented alumnus who has made his mark in the big league.
