ETD Attendance

Attendance

Pupils/Students should observe regular attendance and punctuality in reporting to their classes. Parents/Guardians are requested to cooperate with the school in seeing to it that this can be carried out.

  1. Pupils/Students should not absent themselves from their classes without valid reason/reasons.
  1. A pupil/student who incurs absences of more than 20% of the prescribed number of school days during the school year or semester should be given a failing grade and not earn credits for the learning area or subject. Furthermore, the school head may, at his/her discretion and in the individual case, exempt a learner who exceeds the 20% limit for reasons considered valid and acceptable to the school. The discretionary authority is vested in the school head, and may not be availed of by a student or granted by a faculty member without the consent of the school head (Part VII, DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015).
  1. When a pupil/student returns to school after an absence, he/she is required to:
    1. Submit a letter of excuse to his/her Class Adviser. The letter must be signed by his/her parents/guardians. This should be done before the first period class.
    1. Present a medical certificate duly signed by the attending physician in case of illness or hospitalization.
    1. A pupil/student who reports to school after two or more consecutive absences without presenting a letter or medical certificate will be admitted in his/her class only after the parents/guardians report to the Principal for a conference.
    2. Suspension from classes shall be treated as absences. A pupil/student is not entitled to make-up for tests he/she missed during the period of his/her suspension.
    1. Pupil/Student who is absent with valid reasons may be allowed to submit academic works of the subjects in which he/she was absent.
    1. Pupils/Students who are sent as school’s official participants in contests, meets, trainings/seminars and other school related activities are considered present and shall not be marked absent.  They are also excused from quizzes and other tasks. In case the activities are held during examination days, the official participants shall take the test three days after the activity following the regular schedule of the examination. This shall not be treated as special examination.

Tardiness

  1. All pupils/students should come to school on time as specified by the department.
  1. Pupils/students who came in late shall secure an admission slip from the Prefect of Discipline and present it to their class adviser or subject teacher upon entering the classroom.
  1. Habitual tardiness is not allowed. The parents of the pupil/student will be called for a conference with the Prefect of Discipline in order to address the problem.

Cutting of Classes

Pupils/Students are required to follow strictly schedules of classes and other official school activities and to remain in the campus even during recess time. Any infraction of this regulation will be considered as cutting of classes:

  1. Parents will be called for a conference with the Class Adviser, Prefect of Discipline and the School Principal when their children committed cutting of classes.
  2. A pupil/student will be placed on a Case Study List if he/she has incurred three (3) instances of cutting of classes.
  3. No pupil/student will be allowed to go home during school hours without the written communication of the parents and the approval of the School Principal.

Distance learning poses challenges for teachers and learners in the  conduct of synchronous and asynchronous learning. Thus, pupils’ attendance
online is recorded using an attendance tracker application. Pupils are still encouraged to observe regular attendance and punctuality in reporting to their respective classes.
